Great programming patterns

I code a lot. About 4 hours a day in general - for over 18 years.

I’ve coded websites, little programs, adruino boards and midi controllers.

One thing i can definitivly say is that the code that I can go back to about 5-6 years later and understand is the good stuff. Mind you, there is a lot of stuff - especially in the early days, or slammer projects which are absolutely atrocious to go back to. Most of it boils down to some very simple basic principles.

1. Folders are your best defense (and offense!)

2. Variable names are the next line

3. Break your code up into smaller files

4. Reuse and repeat -> but comment your source

5. Comment what you want to do before you do it.

My name is arjuna

Over the years I have worn many hats - working in the performing arts (in theatre and music), as a designer and most often as a programmer. I've lived in many cities, most notably - Montreal, Toronto, Bangalore and Pondicherry.

Through the past decade, I’ve worked less and less with visual and performing arts, however - I still keep in touch by playing a lot of classical guitar and drawing quite a bit..
