A GUIDEBOOK TO FISHING BOATS OF ODISHA
Illustration Print DesignOn a trip to the Orissa coast in 2012 with some members of the Dakshin Foundation, we were blown away by the craftsmanship of the netmakers and boatmakers of the Orissa coasts. These tradional techniques of boatmaking are under threat. The sheer convenience and virtual indestructability of fibreglass and plastic were edging these tradional techniques out.
So armed with measuring tape and pencils, the boats were studied and the fishers and boatmakers were interviewed. The final drawings were drawn in CAD, but rendered in Illustrator. The layout was done in Indesign.
